Have you ever considered donating your recreational vehicle in North Carolina? Many individuals purchase RVs for family adventures, camping trips, or cross-country journeys, but life changes can make these vehicles less practical over time. Whether your RV has become a storage space or you're looking to save on ongoing expenses, donating to Legacy Wheels is a rewarding solution.
At Legacy Wheels, we accept a wide variety of RVs, from Class A motorhomes like Fleetwoods and Tiffins to travel trailers and pop-up campers. Our donors typically include families and retirees ready to pass on their cherished vehicles to support a good cause. Not only can you make a meaningful contribution, but you can also enjoy significant savings on storage costs, which can range from $150 to $300 monthly.

How pickup works
When you donate your RV or motorhome, Legacy Wheels ensures a smooth pickup process tailored to your vehicle's size and location. Because of the unique dimensions of RVs, specialized transport options, such as flatbed trucks or drive-away services, are usually required. If your RV is at a storage lot, we can coordinate directly with the facility to arrange for pickup. Remember, vehicle length and height matter; we must follow state routing regulations that typically require a max clearance of 13'6". If you're not on-site, we'll handle all logistics to make the process seamless for you.
What drives donation value
The value of your donated RV or motorhome is influenced by various factors, especially the condition of its house systems, which include the roof, slides, plumbing, and air conditioning. Recent maintenance records and a general lack of water damage significantly enhance the vehicle's value. Seasonality plays a role too, with spring auctions often yielding higher prices. For classic RVs, an appraisal can establish a fair market value and may require IRS Form 8283 Section B from a qualified appraiser, ensuring you receive the maximum benefit from your donation.
Documentation you need
- Vehicle title
- Service records
- IRS Form 8283 for appraisal (if applicable)
- Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO) for off-road vehicles
- Any relevant maintenance documentation
North Carolina specifics
In North Carolina, RVs are subject to specific DMV rules regarding titling and registration. Most RV donations require a clear title to transfer ownership smoothly. If you're donating an RV that is not state-titled, a bill of sale might suffice, but it's best to consult with our team for your specific circumstances. This attention to detail ensures your donation process is as hassle-free as possible, allowing you to focus on the positive impact of your generous contribution.
